Easy Southern Cooking/ Blackberry Jam Recipe

Blackberry Jam

1 pound blackberries
3/4 pounds sugar
Hot sterilized jars and lids

  1. Wash the fruit thoroughly. 
  2. Crush fruit.
  3. Weigh fruit and sugar. 
  4. Put fruit and sugar into a heavy kettle large enough for the mixture to boil up.  Heat to boiling point, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved.
  5. Cook until thick, stirring frequently to prevent burning.  The cooking time will be from 10 to 20 minutes, depending on your fruit. 
  6. Jam is done when thick.  Pour immediately into hot sterile jars and seal.
