Definitely not Dole Whip…
Definitely not Dole Whip…
Description
My family and I took a trip recently to Walt Disney World Resorts down in Orlando Florida. One of the desserts that my wife made everyone try was a soft serve ice cream called Dole Whip. This amazing treat is available at Aloha Isle outside the "Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Hut." This recipe is not a "leak" and I have no knowledge of their ingredients. However, I do have a tongue and sharp analytical mind. To me this dessert had a strong overwhelming pineapple flavor with an undercurrent of frozen cool whip served as a soft serve ice cream. And since I do know how to make a soft serve base, I went ahead and tried this recipe off camera. The taste is nearly identical. So if you're planning a trip to Disney but don't have $15+tax per person for a single serving of ice cream in your budget. Try this out before you go.
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Add everything into a large bowl
into a large bowl, add one cup sweetened condensed milk.
Rinse out the condensed milk can with one cup regular milk.
Add approximately one cup name brand Cool Whip and whisk until thoroughly dissolved.
Â
Note: Cool whip is "to taste" at this point you should have only a slight hint of cool whip in the resulting liquid
-
Add Flavor
Add one to one and a half cups of juice to taste. I used pineapple orange juice, but any flavor Welch's or raw canned fruit juice will yield a delicious soft serve.
-
Transfer to the freezer
For soft serve, I usually place the mix into a gallon sized Ziploc bag to make it easier to agitate during the freezing process. You're going to want to leave that Ziploc in the freezer until dinner. Periodically take it out and shake up the mixture to keep it from unevenly freezing.
