About Me!

Hi, my name is Diane Watkins and I currently live in Seminole, Florida. I was raised in Augusta, Georgia, with grandparents in Savannah and Nahunta, Georgia. My relatives are all over the south. I was raised on good old fashioned southern cooking!

I am a high school teacher and mother of 4 wonderful young men. I love to cook and to eat. (Never trust a skinny cook!)

My grandmother taught me to cook during the summers when we would visit her. I love the old-timey recipes like she used to cook. My absolute all-time favorites are Banana Pudding and Butter Beans (not at the same time!)

On this website and my blog, I plan to share a lot of my stories about my grandmother and learning to cook. I furthered my cooking education by reading the best books by the professionals. When I read a cookbook, I can almost taste the food. (Unfortunately, I also gain the weight.)

I collect recipes, especially the old-timey southern food. If you are looking for any southern recipes, just email me, I probably have it. It might take me a day or two to respond during the busy times at school.

In addition to school and cooking, I am the youth director for my church. That keeps me young and makes me feel old all at the same time. I hope you enjoy my site. Let me know if I can help answer any of your cooking questions or help find a favorite southern recipe. --Diane
